Staff writer Mark Feeney reviews the exhibition "The Italian Presepe: Cultural Landscapes of the Soul," on view at the Cantor Art Gallery at the College of the Holy Cross through December 17, 2014. Curated by photographer Margot Balboni and Holy Cross English professor Sarah Stanbury, the show comprises Balboni's photographs of presepe figures, settings and workshops, along with historical pieces, nativity figures and installations. "The overall effect..." writes Feeney, "is of a tradition that remains highly dynamic, one that hasn’t just endured but evolved."
